The Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR), also known as Rajiv Gandhi Salai, is a 45 km long arterial road stretching from Madhya Kailash Temple in Adyar (South Chennai) to Mamallapuram in the Chengalpattu District. Popularly known as IT Corridor, The OMR strategically runs parallel to the ECR and facilitates a streamlined commute to areas alongside the stretch, excellent connectivity to prime locations, and proposed infrastructural development projects have made this location the key growth corridor of Chennai.

Chennai Metro :
Phase 2 of the Chennai Metro rail project will span 118.9 km, covering areas from Madhavram to SIPCOT. The same will benefit the localities along OMR.

Multi-deck elevated transport corridor :
The Tamil Nadu government has planned a three-deck elevated transport corridor to decongest the OMR. At one level, the corridor will merge with the metro route, providing seamless multi-modal connectivity.

The OMR has evolved as a self-sustained locality with robust connectivity, necessary transport, civic and social infrastructure, and ample job opportunities. In addition, the area has provided impressive returns on investment in a short duration.
